Mixing Principle

Turbulent mixing of gases

Target: Reduce as much as possible concentration or temperature deviations in a gas flow, e.g. to optimize the performance of a reactor.

Target
Reduce as much as possible concentration or temperature deviations in a gas flow, e.g. to optimize the performance of a reactor.

The mixing of gases is similar to low-viscous liquids, but the requirements are even higher because of

  • Large dimensions of pipes or ducts emphasize the importance of a safe scale-up
  • Length to diameter ratio of duct up to 6 to 1 require a very flexible design
  • Large volume flow rates emphasize the importance of a very low pressure drop
  • High degree of homogeneity is required, which emphasizes the importance of a reliable prediction of the performance
