The Sulzer type SMF Static Mixer has been especially developed for mixing/blending product streams that contain solid materials as thick and viscous as sludge, e.g. materials or simply liquids that contain solids in the form of suspended particles, fibers, flakes or granules.
The SMF mixer can be used in the turbulent and laminar flow regimes. Its open structure guarantees reliable operation without the danger of clogging whilst the inclined vanes arrangement ensures an efficient mixing action regardless of material consistency. As a special design the SMF mixer can also be used as a solid mixer such as for grains, powders or particles. The mixer is therefore vertically arranged and fed by gravity with the components to be mixed.
Relatively low pressure drops and short mixing lengths in combination with large turn-down possibilities are additional advantages of the SMF type mixer.
