Neutralization is a very fast reaction and is nearly impossible to complete stechiometrically under conditions of continuous flow unless the dosing and mixing of reactants is close to perfect. In the absence of good mixing representative pH measurement and monitoring is rendered impossible due to spatial variations of concentration.

Static mixers distribute evenly the reactants and enable representative measurement of ph values and control of in-line neutralizations at the minimum usage of caustic or acidic additives.
