Water & Wastewater

Introduction

In the field of water and wastewater treatment, mixing and contacting are important unit operations with a fundamental influence on the performance of individual process stages or even on the results of the entire process itself. The ever increasing demands on water quality call for continuous improvement of the purification processes. This has lead to an increasing number of installations of in-line static mixers for mixing and contacting operations in the water and wastewater sector.

The following list represents a selection of the most important applications where Sulzer mixers perform as reliable and easy to operate in-line blenders and contactors.

Waste water treatment

  • In-line dilution of flocculants polymer
  • In- line mixing of flocculants in waste water pipe or channels in front of a sedimentation tank
  • Admixing of flocculants to sludge in front of dewatering section
  • In- line neutralization and ph- control of industrial waste water

Water treatment

  • Adding disinfection agent (like chlorine) to drinking water
  • Adding of fluorine and other agents to drinking water
  • Deacidification of drinking water by adding a caustic soda solution
  • Deacidification of drinking water by stripping the CO2 with air
  • Oxygen enrichment of drinking water by inline aeration
  • Inline Ozonization
  • Removal of Iron and Manganese through in- line contacting with atmospheric oxygen
