Maleic anhydride production

Maleic anhydride is obtained by catalytic oxidation of n-butane. The static mixer SMV™ facilitates this reaction by providing a homogeneous mixture between n-butane and the air stream.
The static mixer equalizes reliably the concentration and the temperature profiles of the mixed gas streams to provide uniform gas mixture within short distance and suppress side reactions.

Phthalic anhydride production

Phthalic anhydride is obtained by catalytic oxidation of o-xylene. The static mixer SMV™ enables the evaporation of the liquid xylene and the subsequent homogeneous mixture between gaseous xylene and air.

Nitric acid production

Nitric acid is obtained by ammonia conversion in two steps. In the first step ammonia is oxidized to nitric oxide with the air oxygen in the presence of a platinum catalyst. The static mixer SMV™ secures a homogeneous mixture between ammonia and air to provide the optimal operating conditions for the catalyst.
In the off gas treatment the NOx containing tail gas is mixed with ammonia in front of the reduction reaction. The static mixer SMV™ provides a homogeneous mixture and uniform temperature profile in front of the catalyst.

Formaldehyde is obtained by catalytic oxidation of methanol.

Terephthalic acid production

Terephthalic acid is used to produce polyethylene terephthalate (PET) by catalytic oxidation of p-xylene in acetic acid in the presence of air. To ensure an optimal reaction the catalyst is mixed into the xylene/acetic acid mixture.
