Turbulent mixing of gases

The mixing of gases is similar to low-viscous liquids, but the requirements are even higher because of

  • large dimensions of pipes or ducts, thus a safe scale-up is important
  • length to diameter ratio of duct up to 6 to 1, thus a very flexible design is required
  • large volume flow rates, thus a very low pressure drop is permitted
  • high degree of homogeneity required, thus a reliable prediction of the performance is essential
